long distances, it may be advisable
to use telecom network instead
of installing private cables. The
telephone network is robust and
well suited to meet the need of
the industrial environment with
high noise immunity demands. In
harsh industrial environment shall
modems be used with built in transient
protection and galvanic isolation
to avoid damage in the system in
case of i.e. lightning or other
over voltage.
