The RA-48 can be used to extend an RS-422/485 bus or as a converter between 2- and 4-wire systems. The unit can also be used as isolator to protect for example a PLC from transients or lightning.
The standard RS-422/485 bus supports 32 nodes at a distance of 1 200 metres, the RA-48 gives you another 31 nodes and further 1 200 metres.
