When
there is a limited number of data cables it is sometimes
necessary to multiplex a number of serial ports over
one or two fiber cables. The multiplexer is a practical
communications product to save cable. The multiplexer
creates up to 4 communication channels which can communicate
independently of each other in full duplex.
