The MM-42 is used for conversion between RS-422/485 and RS-232/V.24 signals. This device is often used in multidrop applications.
In 2-wire half duplex transmission (RS-485) the direction of the bus is controlled by handshaking signals. Transmission rates up to 115.2 kbit/s are possible and the unit meets the RS-422/485 standard allowing up to 32 nodes over a total distance of 1 200 metres. The unit can be supplied with either a 9 or 25 way connection cable.
