The MA-43 is used to create industrial fieldbus type networks of
equipment that despite having an RS-232 port cannot recognise an
address and hence be connected in a network: examples of such equipment
could be weigh-scales or temperature measurement equipment. The
MA-43 has an addressing facility and a data buffer. Up to 240 individual
and one broadcast address can be used to communicate with a single
master MA-43 (selected by DIP-switch). The MA-43 communicates on
a bus oriented RS-422/-485 interface over 2- or 4-wire cables.
Up to 32 MA-43’s can be connected on a segment/bus. For long-distance
communication over several network segments, one or more repeaters
like the RA/RD-48 can be used. |
