Westermo and their
partner, Gross Automation, were some of the many internal,
industry and publication sponsors of ABB's Automation World
in Houston last month. ABB's Automation World is the largest gathering
of ABB employees, representatives, distributors, channel partners
and customers in North America.
A highlight of the Westermo display included a demonstration of a
remote connection to ABB's new AC800M processor, connected to an
ethernet that also included an AC800C programmable controller and
their Process Panel. By dialing in from a notebook running ABB's
Control Builder M software, program changes and updates were easily
shown. The Westermo equipment included a TD-33 modem, an ED-20 router
and an SDW-550 ethernet switch. For the show, an application sheet
for ABB was created and will be posted to
www.westermosales.com in the near future.
The fully functional and UL certified GD-01US was also shown. Together
with the Wyless package of SMS, CSD and GPRS (private fixed IP addressing)
connection to any of the ABB devices at the other booths was demonstrated.
Go ahead and ping the unit at 172.16.132.10. If it is powered, it'll
respond to you from New Berlin, WI USA anytime during the day and
night.
Joining Westermo and Gross Automation later in the week was Trond
Grendar from OnTime Switches. Using the Lynx, T200 and R200 units,
he had the units talking in circles (ring communications) while he
then detailed their latest North Sea application with time synchronization
and the ABB Industrial IT
group of equipment.
Also, as part of Automation World, Gross Automation was presented
with the prestigious "Gold Status Partner" award for sales
in 2004 as part of the Control Products team. The award was on display
in the booth throughout the week.
