Westermo products are developed with four
different types of casing.

Power supplies
To meet customer requirements Westermo units can be equipped
with several different types of power supplies. The following
power supplies are standard for Westermo products.
12-36 V DC
36-55 V DC
115 V AC
230 V AC
Table Top
Newer Westermo products are equipped with a primary
switched power supply which gives possibilities to handle both
AC and DC power supply with the same unit. Products supporting
the primary switched power supply are introduced in two
versions, LV (low voltage) and HV (high voltage). The LV and
HV equipment supports the following voltage ranges.
HV: 95-240 V AC 110-240 V DC +10%
LV: 12-45 V AC 12-55 V DC +10%

Configuration
Simplicity regarding configuration is an important issue for
Westermo. With most of the products it is not necessary to use
special programs or tools to configure a modem from Westermo.
Westermo modems are developed for configuration by
DIP-switches and field configuration is easily made with for
example a normal screwdriver. This is the same for simple
short haul modems and more advanced products like telephone or
ISDN-adapters.

2- or 4-wire twisted pair
For 2- or 4-wire applications in industrial environments we
recommend the use of cables with at least a 0,2 mm2
cross-section and with a capacitance of between 40-80 pF/m.
Use shielded cable in exposed industrial environments and
unshielded cable in less exposed areas and office
environments.
A shielded cable often results in a higher capacitance and,
thereby, a lower maximum transmission speed.
Mini
Fibre optic cable
For indoor installations with fibre optic cables use
flame-proofed type with a cord free from halogen. For outdoor
installations use fibre cables which are water and
UV-resistant.
